Llys Catrin is BORN!

Why do we need a House system? Simple, we need to celebrate the amazing things that happen in school. School can feel like an incredibly lonely place, everything seems to be based on you as an individual, your progress, your grades, how you fit in and who you fit in with. Understandably people can sometimes take a back seat at let school happen to them, rather than embracing the amazing opportunities that can come our way.

If you don't tell your story who will?

There are hundreds of stories that paint young people in a bad light. People can write these stories because young people have seemingly given up responsibility for writing their own stories. We, as a house, must take back the authorship of our own stories. When a young rugby international joins the New Zealand Rugby team, he is given a copy of a book, containing all the jerseys that have been worn and the achievements made by the men that wore those journeys, by joining the team the young player is given a simple task, written in the back of the book by the Captain "Leave the jersey in a better place." Your time in Risca Community Comprehensive school is short, but for some reason where someone went to school remains important long after they leave. Our task is equally simple "Leave the uniform in a better place." The time may come when a student only has the reputation of the school to rely on as a reference. We should take responsibility for ensuring that those that come after us are given something of worth. Individually we will not be able to change much, but collectively we will be unstoppable. Llys Catrin are chosen to be the best, and its up to us to live up to the legacy we want to pass on.
